Real Rockin' New Years Eve The Band played at New York's Academy Of Music for the last week of 1971. Robbie asked Allen Toussaint to compose horn arrangements of a bunch of their earlier songs (like he had done for Life Is A Carnival on Cahoots). They added a punch to the performances that were perhaps the best The Band played. During the concert, all the horn-enhanced songs were played together; for the album, Robbie scattered them about. Read more at recommended The Band website listed below. After New Years Eve passed (you can hear Auld Lang Syne during Garth Hudson's Genetic Method), their former boss, Bob Dylan appeared to sing a few songs. We had to wait until 2001 for a deluxe CD reissue to hear those performances legitimately (see blue note). Now, of course you can get a 4-CD, 1-DVD super duper deluxe edition. |

Drugs and in-fighting lead to final concert, The Last Waltz in '76. Robbie writes movie music, Levon held jams at his Woodstock barn until his death. |
