At The Movies
Movie soundtrack made by our kinda musicians. Even films that had no soundtrack recording issued are listed (so you can see what you can't hear). If the soundtrack was done in its entirety by one artist, it's considered a "regular" release and will be listed there, not here. Not to worry, there are links here and there so you can continue your browsing. The Trip and More are like that. The exception to this is, of course, The Beatles first two movies. Everyone considers their soundtrack albums as regular issue albums, even though George Martin takes up half of each album. Yellow Submarine and Let It Be are treated differently, though (consistency any one?). Otherwise, the records issued will show the artist and song recorded (sometimes not the same as the real soundtrack, sneaky besterds). All movies show the release date (usually the premiere—your local theatre date may not be the same). Notes (as usual) show the "other side" and the clap-boards will show you posters or other printed materials. I should include the cast & crew and a brief synopsis, but there's always IMDB (where, oh where, would we, as a civilized society, be without the all mighty internet tubes, I ask you ). Like the posters I liberated from the internets? Try these on-line shops to get a real one: FFF Movie Posters or Movie Poster Shop —and there's always eBay (do I really need to provide a link?). |

Some interesting notes |
What is this 1957 movie doing here? Besides its being a classic, it helped start The Beatles, that's why ... A 3-CD set was issued in 2012 that featured all the songs, plus lots more and a booklet, too. |
Need a 2nd opinion? In the 2018 documentary "Still On The Run," Jeff Beck sez: "It's the best rock 'n' roll movie ever made." You gonna argue with the greatest guitar player ever? |

Some interesting notes |
In the psychedelic nightclub sequence, the band seen performing on the stage is The Litter, a Minneapolis-based group. However, in the original release version, their music is not heard; instead, we hear a piece by Frank Zappa's 'Mothers of Invention'. (imdb) |
The DVD of the film has different music in some places than the original theater release. The changes were due to rights issues and presumably many of Bloomfield's pieces were replaced. Wild Man Fisher's version of Merry-Go-Round was replaced by the Harlem Globtrotter theme song, Sweet Georgia Brown (performed by Brother Bones) |

Some interesting notes |
The Rolling Stones' You Got The Silver appears in the film, as does Roy Orbison's So Young (which was tacked onto the closing credits by MGM without Antonio's knowledge). The Doors wrote L' America for the film, but it was not used. Pink Floyd's Come In Number 51... is a rewrite of Careful With That Axe, Eugene. The story of the soundtrack is fascinating reading! |
