New York Pop

Downing Stadium, Randall's Island, New York City
July 17-19, 1970
Event was "liberated" by The Young Lords. Promoters gave them two hours for political rap—they were booed off stage. Saturday, The Lords decided is was a free concert. That meant the bands wouldn't get paid either. Most walked. Ten Years After played, as did the New York Rock 'n' Roll Ensemble, called in from across the river in Jersey.
Sunday wasn't much better. It ended as a dreary event. A film was made and released in 1973. It too bombed.
