The Mothers Of Invention |
Frank Zappa ♦ The Mothers |
Special Note Regarding Credits And The Like As Pertains To Frank Zappa Produced Records A Frank Zappa record (in the early days, at least) was a multi-media experience. Listening to the music also required you to read the album covers for clues (and jokes). Frank was the master of ceremonies at all times. Anyway, I've tried to include what was easily translatable to this little project. Personel are listed as they appear on the albums (supplemented occasionally). And then there's the back cover to Mothermania. But to get the full enjoyment, go out and buy the damn records and see what's there. An important part of these albums was the artwork by Cal Schenkel . Learn more about Cal & Frank at The Music Aficionada: Cal Schenkel's Album Covers part 1: the 1960s . |

thought that since he didn't play or claim the artist role, he was clear by his MGM contract. MGM thought otherwise and filed
suit to prevent the release (Capitol had already released some 4-track tapes). So, Frank took the tapes back and expanded

Seinfeld stole "Yadda, yadda, yadda" from Frank! Poor Billy—he just wanted to go to New York (with his wife, Ethel) to be on The Tonight Show! Curses, Studebaker Hoch! This album has a special place in my heart. Played it late one Sunday night on a college radio station. Towards the end of the piece, the student Station Manager called—all upset about the ending. Poor southern lad! Just might play it now. Oh, and this is where Jerry and his loser friends stole "their" most famous catch phrase! The other side ain't bad, either. Yes, that's Frank's broken leg sticking out the car window (alluding to the Dec 71 incident at The Rainbow Theatre in London, when he was pushed off stage by a deranged Brit (not gonna call it a fan). |
